Nauru History: Civil War

1878-1888: After the introduction of the Alcohol and Weapons to the Nauru Island, the situations in the Island started turning violent. The tribes who has been living in a co-existence and peace for hundreds and thousands of years started to turn against each other. The situation got worse when the tribes went to war against each other. The fight lingered on for nearly 10 long years, causing severe damage to the Nauru, the population was reduced from 1400(estimate of 1843) to nearly 900(Estimate of 1888).

The small Island which was already under the foreign eyes continued to destroy itself through the internal war, and its worth saying that this war weakened the internal system of Nauru quite a lot and in fact paved an indirect way for the foreign invasion and occupation, and the same happened, after the way, Nauru Island remained under foreign occupation for several decades.
