Geography of Nauru
Nauru is a small Island on a phosphate rock located in south of Marshall Islands in the south of Pacific Ocean. It is only 33 miles south of the equator and is located at 0°32′S 166°55′E coordinates on the map.

Total surface area of Nauru is 21 Km square with a 30 km coastal area. The sandy beach rises to form fertile ring around coral reefs with the phosphate plateau in the centre of the island. The topside takes up the central portion of the territory. Highest point along the plateau rim is 61 meters above sea level.

The climate of island is tropical with monsoonal pattern. Rainy season lasts from November to February. The phosphate reserves formed by guano deposits and fishery are major natural resources in the country. Nauru has no natural rivers or lakes due to the fact that it is surrounded by sandy beaches and corals.

Here are the extremes of the Nauru Island in terms of geography:
  • Northern-most point – Cape Anna, Ewa District 
  • Eastern-most point – Cape Ijuw, Ijuw District 
  • Southern-most point – unnamed headland south of the wireless station, Meneng District 
  • Western-most point - the harbour, Aiwo District 
  • Highest point - Command Ridge (71 m, 233 ft) 
  • Lowest point - Pacific Ocean (sea level)
