Flag of Nauru

For the major part of the recent history, Nauru remained under the rules of foreign flags and thus never officially had their own Flag.

Later in 1968, When the country acquired Independence, the foreign ruling flags were not appropriate so a new flag design was chosen by public in a local competition. Which is not implemented as the National Flag of Nauru.

An Australian designer gave the Flag the final graphic form and finishing touch. The flag clearly displays the location of Island on the Map. The background blue color represents the pacific ocean, Yellow strip in the midst of flag represents the equator. The twelve pointed star represents the twelwe origional tribes of the country. The white color of the star represents the phosphorous which is coutnry’s major export and main source of income for the inhabitants. The Flag is a good representative of the Nauruan Republic and her People!
